June 20, 2008

My doctor visit went well yesterday. I didn't actually get to the see the doctor but filled out paperwork and they done my lab work. The nurse talked with me for a while and told me how their office works. I had never been to this doctor before and have not decided yet if I'm going to use him or not. I really wish I could have seen him and asked a few questions. I made another appointment for the end of November.

I have an appointment with my regular ob/gyn in two weeks and I am leaning towards using him. He is just a little further away but probably worth the time.

According the nurse's little wheel my due day is June 20, 2008. A more accurate due date is expected when they do my first ultrasound.

BIG Announcement!!

Well I guess I haven't posted in a while and have had a fairly good reason. I haven't been feeling the best. Just mostly tired, backache, hips ache, kinda of nauseated heartburn, headaches and extremely irritable. If you haven't guessed yet.......I'm Pregnant!

I took my first home pregnancy test last Tuesday 10/16 and since then I have took two more all with two lines appearing and getting darker each time. We are getting excited now that it is sinking in a little bit. We are having the normal worries, hope it's healthy, hope it gets here without problems or bedrest (as with my first pregnancy), how will we pay for another child, will Eva adjust well, etc, etc. We have told our families and friends and everyone is excited and surprised. We have said we would probably not have anymore children since Eva's difficult pregnancy, delivery and colic. She has really turned out to a terrific little person and absolutely worth every second of discomfort.

My first doctor's appointment is tomorrow for lab work. I'll be glad to get a professional opinion and maybe a due date.

Happy Anniversary Weekend

We had an awesome weekend just the three of us. We went for a little trip to Pigeon Forge, TN. Eva had a great time and we had a great time seeing the excitement in her eyes. We went to the aquarium in Gatlinburg, the Dixie Stampede, Dollywood, a little shopping for me and for Brandon The Bass Pro Shop. A majority of the trip was all about EVA, which is the way it should be.

I just love my little family. They are the world to me and I don't know what I would do without them. The last eight years of my life have been the best times of my life. My husband is my lover, best friend, confidant, parenting partner and partner in life. He is everything to me. I love the way he makes me feel safe. I love the way that nothing else matters in the world when we are together. As long as we are happy and healthy everything and everyone else will work themselves out. There is no place I had rather be than with my family. :o)

I look forward to the future with my family and all that is to come. I know there will be difficult times along with the good but I know we will be okay together. I know that Eva will grow up and be into her own life events and that is okay because I have him. I look forward to growing old together and taking care of each other.

I thank God everyday for my many blessings in life and I try to appreciate every aspect of them.

Signs of Fall!!

I have noticed several signs of fall this week, which I love.
  • One or two little red leaves amongst the green on the Maple tree outside my kitchen window.
  • Mums and pumpkins at area markets
  • The sky is clear and a brilliant blue in the evenings.
  • The temperature is cool/crisp in the evenings and early mornings.
  • Football - GO UGA!!!
  • Deer are moving, as my husband notices. He is an avid outdoorsman and gets very excited when the temp drops a little.
  • The last sure sign of fall is the "eps truck" as Eva calls it just brought her Halloween costume today, Minnie Mouse. She has wore it since we opened the box. I hope we don't wear it out before Halloween even arrives.

All of these are some of my favorite things. As an educator fall seems like a new beginning to me. A new school year. New students and new classes.

The holidays are around the corner, which is another favorite thing. I really like the time from now until Christmas more than the actual day.

My husband and I started dating in the fall and got married in the fall, October 2. Fall is happy memories.

This is definitely my favorite time of the year.

No Tears!!!

Eva shed no tears upon entering her classroom this morning. This is a major milestone. She has went from a death grip with arms and legs around me screaming to walking in putting her backpack up and sitting at the table to start her work. She still asked me to watch her start her work this morning and I did but then slipped out quietly once she was focused on her work. She has been going for 3 weeks now. I think that is a good time frame to adjust to a whole new world for her. I can already see a positive difference in her behavior at home and her social skills around other children as well. She just seems more confident.

I am very pleased with the preschool. I feel like they make good use of the 3 hours she is there and they have been very supportive during this transition time for me and her.

I don't have a baby anymore, she has spread her wings or maybe just fluffed them out a bit.

School days

Well today was our second day of preschool. Eva is doing better than I expected. She cries (or should I say kicks and screams) for about 3-4 minutes when I leave her and then she is a "little teary but holds it together" the rest of the the morning. After I pick her up she is very proud of school and tells me all about her friends and the morning activities and she talks about going back. I am hoping the longer she goes the easier the morning drop-off will be and that she will be more comfortable while she is there. She has brought home crafts she has made each day and is very proud of her work, showing everybody that comes to our house. The staff at the preschool has been exellent so far. They have really been wanting to make things good for Eva and make her experiences positive.

Preschool is working great for me. I am getting to go to the dam and walk/run by myself and then go home for a shower without an audience. I am getting much needed exercise and getting time alone just to think and be thankful. I think everyone benefits from my me time.

Busy but Thankful

Wow it is hot, hot, hot here. We are breaking records. Our yard needs watering and my flowers look pitiful. I am ready for fall weather. Fall is my favorite time of the year. I love the weather, the fall holidays and the fall foliage is beautiful here where we live in the mountains.

We have a busy weekend planned after a busy week of VBS. Eva enjoyed VBS and wanted to go every night. She was really shy and clingy when we would arrive but by the time we were ready to go she would be having fun. I helped teach her class of 3-5 year olds. One night we had 22 students in our class, which was too many for the size of our classroom and for the age we were working with. It was pretty much chaos. The other nights we had 17-19 students, that was still a big group of preschoolers. VBS is always hard work but rewarding when it is over. We asked the students each night if anyone wanted to say a prayer and I almost cried every night. It was so sweet to hear these small children being thankful for their families. I know some of them were probably just repeating what had already been said but it was still sweet to hear.

One night we traced their hands and wrote "we have helping hands" and then ask each child what they do to help others to write on the paper hands. Eva said, "I help plant the garden," we don't have a garden, "I help daddy on the tractor and trac hoe, " "I help Nana plant strawberries and Memaw make my lunch." It was so cute.

Eva went to lunch with her aunt Stacie today and I went for a pedicure and done a little shopping. It was nice to be alone for a couple of hours. I just shopped for Eva though, found an adorable bathing suit for her on sale and some cute little flip flops. It is so fun to buy for little girls.

I have a great life. I am soo thankful that I can stay home with my daughter everyday, I have a wonderful husband that I love with all my heart, a loving family ( in-laws included) and we are all relatively healthy. I am sooo BLESSED.
