Signs of Fall!!

I have noticed several signs of fall this week, which I love.
  • One or two little red leaves amongst the green on the Maple tree outside my kitchen window.
  • Mums and pumpkins at area markets
  • The sky is clear and a brilliant blue in the evenings.
  • The temperature is cool/crisp in the evenings and early mornings.
  • Football - GO UGA!!!
  • Deer are moving, as my husband notices. He is an avid outdoorsman and gets very excited when the temp drops a little.
  • The last sure sign of fall is the "eps truck" as Eva calls it just brought her Halloween costume today, Minnie Mouse. She has wore it since we opened the box. I hope we don't wear it out before Halloween even arrives.

All of these are some of my favorite things. As an educator fall seems like a new beginning to me. A new school year. New students and new classes.

The holidays are around the corner, which is another favorite thing. I really like the time from now until Christmas more than the actual day.

My husband and I started dating in the fall and got married in the fall, October 2. Fall is happy memories.

This is definitely my favorite time of the year.

No Tears!!!

Eva shed no tears upon entering her classroom this morning. This is a major milestone. She has went from a death grip with arms and legs around me screaming to walking in putting her backpack up and sitting at the table to start her work. She still asked me to watch her start her work this morning and I did but then slipped out quietly once she was focused on her work. She has been going for 3 weeks now. I think that is a good time frame to adjust to a whole new world for her. I can already see a positive difference in her behavior at home and her social skills around other children as well. She just seems more confident.

I am very pleased with the preschool. I feel like they make good use of the 3 hours she is there and they have been very supportive during this transition time for me and her.

I don't have a baby anymore, she has spread her wings or maybe just fluffed them out a bit.
